Written by David Mamet, Glengarry Glen Ross has become known as a Great American Play. The play premiered in London on September 21, 1983 in the historic Royal National Theatre. It made its United States debut at the Arts Institute of Chicago and moved to Broadway shortly after opening. On Broadway, the play aired 378 times and received numerous Tony Nominations.
In 1992, Mamet adapted the play into a film for the big screen. Despite its all-star cast, including Al Pacino, Kevin Spacey and Alec Baldwin, the film had minor success in comparison to its Broadway, Tony winning counterpart.
